Helen Frances James

Helen Frances James, 90, passed away September 5th surrounded by family.

Born in Liberty, Kentucky to Edith (Grooms) Caudill and Lunda Caudill on March 21st 1935.

Frances was the oldest of 8 children. She moved to Franklin, Indiana after graduating high school where she worked for Franklin United Telephone Co.

She met and married the love of her life Avery James on September 22nd 1956. They lived briefly in Arizona but returned to Franklin, Indiana where they stayed and raised their family of 4 children.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Kevin R. James and Darrell L. James. She is also preceded by brothers, Jay, Donald, Gary, Edward, and Keith Caudill.

Frances is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Avery "Sonny" James; children, Ron James (Rose) and Helen Armour (Lydia); grandson, Christopher Armour (Katelyn); four wonderful great-grandchildren, Jase, Josie, Aubree, and Maverick; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Margaret Kelley and Geneva Gougen; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
