Jerry Lee Lindsey:
It is with shattered hearts that we share that our precious Husband, Dad, Pappy, Uncle, Son, Brother, and friend to so many has gone home to be with his Heavenly Father.
Jerry Lee Lindsey was born in
Franklin, Indiana, on September 30, 1954, and entered the arms of Jesus on September 4, 2025.
Jerry is survived by his one and only love, Debbie, who captured his heart at just 16 years old. From that moment on, they were inseparable. On July 13, 1974, they joined their lives in marriage, a covenant they honored for over 51 beautiful years. Their love was a living testimony of God's design, unwavering and steadfast through every season of life.
Jerry was the proud father of three children who each held a special place in his heart. His oldest, Amanda (Adam) Galema, was the true definition of a daddy's girl, wrapped around his finger from the day she was born. From breakfast dates to patiently riding escalators over and over at Lazarus when she was a little girl to help her overcome her fears, Jerry would do anything for his baby girl. His middle son, Matthew Lindsey, shared countless moments with his dad, working on cars together or taking road trips to Oklahoma to visit Uncle Rick. Jerry cherished every mile and memory spent with Matthew. His youngest, Andrew (Jenna) Lindsey, his "baby boy," was a constant source of pride. Jerry was endlessly proud of Andrew's accomplishments, always bragging about his land in Brown County, the kind of father he had become, and joyfully anticipating the day he would help Andrew build his dream home.
Jerry was also blessed with three beloved "bonus" grandchildren, Cassity, Jared, and Ryleigh Galema, who he loved dearly. His greatest and most treasured role of all was being "Pappy" to his three grandsons- Dawson, Liam, and Myles. They were truly the light of his life. He was their wrestling partner, their biggest fan, and their storyteller, making up bedtime adventures that always ended on a cliffhanger. As Dawson (age 6) loved to say, "Pappy always stops at the best part!", leaving them excited for the next chapter the following night.
Jerry is also survived by his beloved mother, Betty Lindsey; his brothers, Rick and Randy Lindsey; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
Man of unmatched character and integrity, Jerry was gentle in spirit, humble at heart, and faithful in all things. He never sought the spotlight but quietly excelled in everything he did, even while facing extreme health challenges with courage and perseverance. Jerry was a 1972 graduate of Franklin Community High School, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Purdue University, and a proud Airborne Army Ranger, living out the values of discipline, excellence, and humility.
More than his accomplishments, Jerry will be remembered for the way he loved. His kind and steady presence touched every life he encountered. He lived out the words of 1 Thessalonians 4:11–12:"…make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody."
Though words cannot capture the depth of our love for him or the heartache of missing him, we rejoice in knowing that Jerry knew the Lord well. Because of this, we grieve not as those without hope, but with the confident assurance that we will one day be reunited with him in Heaven.
Jerry's life was a reflection of Christ's love- quiet, steady, strong, and overflowing with love. His legacy of faith, love, humility, and strength will live on in his family, his friends, and the countless lives he touched.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Franklin First Church of the Nazarene, 140 Branigan Road,
Franklin, IN 46131.
The funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location with burial following at Greenlawn Cemetery. Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johnson County
Special Olympics.
We welcome all who knew and loved him to join us as we gather to honor his life, share memories, and celebrate an incredible man.
