Helen Ruth Jones of Montgomery, Louisiana gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, October , 2025 received her heavenly wings at Methodist Medical Center in Houston, Texas. She was born on August 24, 1936, to the late Nathaniel and Edith Walker.

Helen accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized and became a devoted member of New Morning Star Baptist Church of St. Maurice, Louisiana, under the leadership of Rev. David Pye. She attended New Enterprise Elementary School and continued her education at J.W. Gaines High School in Montgomery, Louisiana.

Later in life, Helen united with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Millard Hollingsworth and faithfully served at Union Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Randle Gipson. A true servant of God, Helen found joy in singing in the choir and serving her church family.

Helen had a deep love for basketball - a passion that began in her school days, where she proudly played on the team, and one that continued throughout her life. Even in her later years, she rarely missed an opportunity to watch a good game on television, cheering on her favorite teams with enthusiasm and joy.

Helen was a caregiver at heart, dedicating her life to caring for her parents and many beloved family members. She had a passion for cooking and was known for her delicious homemade biscuits and syrup, always made with love for her children and grandchildren. Helen worked as a school cook and later shared her compassion with the community by delivering meals for Meals on Wheels.

Throughout her life, Helen was blessed to experience love and companionship. In September 1956, she married Robert Lee Hartison, and to this union four children were born. She later married the late Luga Joseph, with whom she gained a bonus son, Luga Joseph Jr. Helen was also united in marriage to the late Henry Jones, with whom she shared cherished years of companionship and love.

In her later years, Helen moved to Houston, Texas, where she joined Step of Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James Ballard, continuing her journey of faith and service.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Edith Walker; her siblings Oreilia ("Snoop"), Otis, Atis, Thelma, Mary, Mattie, Ethel, James, and Willie D.; and her beloved husbands, Luga Joseph and Henry Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children: Rodney (Rosa), Delinda (Maurice – deceased), Rickey (Amy), and Landry (Anthony); her loving sister Doris; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and friends who loved her dearly. Her legacy of faith, strength, love, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family extends a special thank you to Diane Dorsey, Shiquita Banks, Onyi Ushi, and the staff of Terra Bella Health and Wellness Suites for their loving care and support.
