Helen H. Juenger

Helen H. Juenger, nee Stein, 89, of New Athens, IL, born July 12, 1934 in Lively Grove, IL, passed away on Wednesday December 20, 2023 at the Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg, IL. She was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL, the church Ladies Club and quilters, VFW Post #7710 Auxiliary and the Daughters of Isabella.
Helen was known for her big smiles and warm and cheerful "hello's" and hugs and kisses. She made many beautiful quilts and love was sewn into every one of them. She loved her family and big family meals, playing cards, bingo and Yahtzee. She enjoyed her children, grand kids and the little gr. grand's. Alzheimer's took Helen's mind, but God blessed her with beautiful smiles and a happy laugh throughout her illness. She enjoyed visits from all who would come sit and talk with her. Thanks to all who were there for her. She would have said "thank you" if she had been able to.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents – Henry J. and Theresa A. (Lake) Stein, her loving husband – Wilfred A. Juenger, whom she married on December 27, 1952 at St. Anthony's Church in Lively Grove, and who passed away on January 11, 1990, 2 sons – Alvin Juenger and Larry Juenger, 3 brothers – Leo (the late Edith) Stein, Norbert Stein and Leroy Stein, 1 sister-in-law – Nancy Stein and 1 brother-in-law – Ray Roethlisberger.
Those surviving her are 1 daughter – Linda (Harry) Meyer, 1 son – Denis (Tina) Juenger, daughter-in-law Lisa Juenger, 2 brothers – Hugo (Maxine) Stein and Armin (Judy) Stein, 3 sisters – Agnes Roethlisberger, Esther (Robert) Cowell and Violas Hummert, 6 grandchildren – Sheryl (Thomas) Rois, Joseph (Tammy) Meyer, Jonathan (Jennifer) Juenger, Joshua (Linda) Juenger, Krista Juenger and Trisha (Bryce) Karban, 8 great grandchildren – Elijah and Luke Rois, Charlotte and Cole Juenger, Caleb, Carleigh and Cadence Juenger and Kinsley Karban and 2 sisters-in-law – Delores Juenger and Bernadine Stein. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorials in Helen's honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Mass offerings to St. Michael's in Paderborn or St. Agatha's in New Athens.
Visitation: 9 – 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday December 26, 2023 at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday December 26, 2023 at St. Agatha Catholic Church in New Athens, IL with Fr. Von Deeke officiating. Burial will follow at St. Agatha Catholic Cemetery in New Athens, IL
