Helen D. (Latulippe) MacDonald, 102, of Leominster, formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, January 17, 2026, in her home at Leominster Crossing, after an illness.
Born in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, on July 2, 1923, she was the beloved daughter of the late Rene and Adrienne (Veilleux) Latulippe. Helen graduated from Plymouth (NH) High School with the Class of 1943, went on to receive her nursing degree from Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1947, and later earned her certificate in public health from Simmons College.
Helen dedicated her life to caring for others. She was a registered nurse and was employed by Eastwood Pines of Gardner for 20 years, retiring in 1990. Her compassion, work ethic, and quiet dedication left a lasting impression on both her colleagues and those she served.
A faithful parishioner of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner, Helen was an active member of its rosary group. She found great joy in tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, proudly canning the vegetables she grew herself. She also enjoyed knitting and braiding rugs, skills she practiced with patience and care. Above all else, Helen's greatest joy was her family, cherishing the many memories made and laughter shared throughout the years.
Helen is survived by her son, Peter D. MacDonald and his wife Leona of Gardner; her two daughters, Susan A. MacDonald of Venecia, CA and Anne D. Nolan and her husband James of Gardner; a grandson, Jeremy MacDonald; one great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Peter W. MacDonald; five sisters, Alfreda School, Anita Shortsleeves, Therese Chabot, Margaret Burne, and Jeanne Day; and three brothers, Edward, Rene, and Paul Latulippe.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 2, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Crystal Lake Drive, Gardner, MA.
There are no calling hours; relatives and friends are kindly asked to report directly to the church on the day of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ascend Health 352 Belmont Street, Worcester, MA 01604 or to Leominster Crossing, Attn: The Holiday Employee Fund, 1160 Main Street, Leominster, MA 01453. Please reference in memory of Helen D. MacDonald.
