YOUNGSTOWN - Cherry Marsh, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025. She was born on April 9, 1936, in Albuquerque, NM, the only child of Kenneth Nelson and Kathleen Cherry.
Cherry graduated from Conneaut High School in 1954 before pursuing her passion for nursing at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1957. She dedicated her career to caring for others, working as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital in various roles, including OBGYN, Emergency, Supervisor, and Outpatient departments, before retiring in 1991. She also provided compassionate care in the offices of Drs. Malloy and Smith.
Cherry was married to Richard Lynn Marsh, who preceded her in death in 2006. She also endured the heartbreaking loss of her eldest daughter, Kathy, in 2006, and her daughter, Terry, in 2021. Despite these losses, Cherry's love for her family remained steadfast and strong.
She is survived by her loving children: Nancy and her wife, Steph, of Tacoma, WA; Richard and his wife, Patty, of Cookeville, TN; and Diane and her husband, Dave, of Youngstown. She is also remembered by her son-in-law, Jeff Galla, of Youngstown.
Cherry's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Hailey Hennigan, Kristina Peyko, Holly Peyko, Chris Thompson, David Thompson, Timmy Thompson, Chad Marsh, Joey (Ashley) Peyko, Jamie Mann, and Michele Mann. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Aiden, Brody, Chris, Jaden, David, Noah, Ruth Ann, Elli, Gavriella, Landon, and Noa.
Cherry will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her dedication to helping others extended beyond her career, leaving an impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A service to celebrate Cherry's life will be held at Zion Lutheran, in Cornersburg, on Saturday, March 22, at 11am-noon (calling hour), followed by a short service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice in her memory.
She will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts.
