David P. Burnett Sr., peacefully passed away October 18, 2025, at the age of 78.
He was born on April 18, 1947, in Youngstown, a son of the late Arthur and Margaret Nagy Burnett.
David graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University. He dedicated over 30 years of his professional life as an accountant, starting with Commercial Shearing and continuing with Parker Hannifin.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, David was a passionate sports enthusiast. He coached football for many years at Byzantine Catholic Central. Later he could be found cheering on the Poland Bulldogs, a towering figure in the endzone. He fiercely supported his teams like the Poland Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Notre Dame, Youngstown State University, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Guardians. He was a lifelong member of St. Stephen of Hungary Parish. David loved to bring joy to countless friends and family by making personal phone calls on their birthdays, singing to them. David found his greatest joy in his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nanette T. Brown Burnett, whom he married June 3, 1978; his cherished children, Maggie (Josh Seese) Burnett of Lowellville and David (Jill) Burnett Jr. of Hurst, TX; his two grandchildren, Jewel and Stella; and his brothers, Art (Joyce) Burnett of Boardman and Ed Burnett of Poland.
David was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Fabian.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday Oct. 24th from 11am to 1pm at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road, followed by a Funeral Service at 1pm.
