Helen Nitzband Obituary

Helen Corrine Nitzband passed away on August 6, 2024, in Copperas Cove, Texas. She was born Helen Berhow on October 31, 1930 to Francis Berhow and Helen (Espe) Berhow, in Buffalo Center, Iowa. Helen was the youngest and last survivor of thirteen children. She was the cherished spouse of Rodney Nitzband who passed in 2018 and the loving mother of three surviving children: Michael Nitzband (Georgeann) of New Braunfels TX; Patrice Pendleton (Doug) of Copperas Cove; and Joy Guidicotti (George) of Bullhead City, AZ. Helen also had two children who predeceased her; a son David Berhow and daughter Sharon Frost. Helen is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Helen worked in various civil service positions, notably serving as a supervisory editor at a U.S. Army testing facility at Ft. Hood. Her dedication and commitment to her work were evident to all who knew her. Helen's colleagues and friends will remember her for her professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail. She was an avid reader, an excellent bowler into her eighties and she loved music; singing and playing multiple instruments.

Helen's family and friends will gather to pay their respects at a visitation scheduled for August 16, 2024, at the Copperas Cove Location in Copperas Cove, Texas. The visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and conclude at 3:00 PM. It will be a time to reminisce, share stories, and honor the memory of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many. There will be a Celebration of Life from 3:00 until 5:00 at the VFW Post 8577, 1506 Veterans Ave in Copperas Cove.

Helen Corrine Nitzband will be remembered for her warmth, intelligence, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy of hard work, dedication, compassion and constant optimism will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in peace, knowing she was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
