Helen R. North (Robbins) ObituaryHelen R. North, age 87, formerly a longtime resident of Whiteford, MD
died on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Jacob's Well Assisted Living in
Bel Air, MD. She was the wife of Merriken D. "Bud" North who died on
September 2, 2020.
Born in Bellhaven, NC, she was the daughter and only child of Woodrow
Wilson and Dorothy (Wilkinson) Robbins. Helen graduated from Eastern
High School in Baltimore in 1954 and then from Towson State Teacher's
College in 1958. She began her career teaching in the Baltimore City
Public School System, leaving to work for Fortress Church Supply, also
in Baltimore. Her final position was with Fallston General Hospital,
formerly located in Fallston, MD where she eventually retired as an
administrative assistant working in the same office as her husband for
many years. Helen and Bud spent most of their time together, happily
enjoying and appreciating the blessings of their life. Helen enjoyed
many activities, one of which was singing. She was a member of the
chancel choir Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church singing tenor alongside
Bud. Later they were members of the then named Fawn United
Methodist Church in Fawn Grove, PA. At home, she and Bud rescued
greyhounds, and Helen, as a lover of bingo and dominoes was a "member"
of the unofficial area group Domino Dollies and Harry. Helen
participated along with other in visiting shut-ins. She brought much joy
to others all through her life. Helen was also a character, in the best
of ways. She and Bud loved to dine out, a tradition she continued after
his passing, and Helen always ordered her favorite drink, a virgin Bloody
Mary. Helen was a wonderful, cheerful friend to everyone, and she will
be sorely missed by many people.
