Helen Richelhoff passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday, October 10, 2025 at the age of 97 years. She was born on the family farm in the Senlac, Saskatchewan district on January 9, 1928 the fourth child of Jacob and Eva Seitz. She is lovingly remembered by her sister Evelyn Hazzard, plus many nieces and nephew’s. She was predeceased by her husband Florian "Floyd" Richelhoff; daughter Diane Richelhoff; parents Jacob Seitz and Marion “Eva” Seitz (nee Frei); sisters Margaret Menssa, Theresa Adolph, Catherine Gyorffy, Mary Seitz, Caroline Aikens; and brothers Peter Seitz, John Seitz, Vincent Seitz, and Tony Seitz.

Helen met her husband Floyd at a dance in the Luseland area in the winter of 1944; and were married the next fall on October 29, 1945. They had one daughter, Diane Katherine Richelhoff who was born on January 4, 1947. Diane sadly passed away only 3 years later from severe pneumonia. Helen and Floyd resided in Luseland, Sask. to start their marriage, however moved to Calgary only a few short years later and both got jobs at McCroan’s Restaurant. Helen cooked in the Restaurant. When Helen was 21 yrs. old she contracted Polio and spent time in the Edmonton Sanitarium for treatment. Her and Floyd had moved to Edmonton and both spent time working at the Pig and Whistle Restaurant. They then moved back to Calgary and briefly ran their own Restaurant. Later they worked at the Royal Hotel Restaurant. Helen then got a job at the Wales Restaurant in downtown Calgary where she worked for over 35 years. She also worked with Floyd in his own Commercial Cleaning business for several years; and in later years joined her sister Margaret and niece Shirley doing housecleaning at various homes throughout Calgary.

Helen and Floyd both enjoyed Country & Western music and liked to attend dances as much as possible. Helen enjoyed trips to visit family and on occasion taking trips to Las Vegas and Reno. Helen enjoyed coffee out and cards and games with friends and family. She also enjoyed Bingo and liked to watch game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Helen also very much enjoyed the outdoors, often taking walks to see the plants, flowers, birds and animals around Calgary. Helen was a strong and determined person who often spoke her mind and kept others accountable. This was one of her most endearing qualities.

The family wishes to thank all the caring staff at the Generations Calgary, Multi Generational Housing and Community Centre for their loving care of Helen during her years at the Home.

Helen's cremated remains will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery (3157 Erlton Street SW, Calgary) on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
