Helen Marie (Gudzikowski) Rutter, age 73, of Belding, Michigan passed away June 14, 2024, in her home surrounded by loved ones after battling pancreatic cancer. Helen was born on June 29, 1950, in Flint, Michigan. She graduated from North Branch High School in 1968. Helen retired from General Motors after many years with the company. She was an active member of the Remus Michigan Wheatland Music Festival, and she loved spending days outside with family and friends. Helen would often host game nights where many friends would spend hours at her home playing cards. She enjoyed art, painting, fixing things, gardening and just about any activity that would put her creativity to use.
Helen leaves behind 2 children, Douglas John Maxfield, Jr., and Nautica Lynn Rutter; brothers, Robert Edward Gudzikowski and Tyrone Gudzikowski; many grandchildren including, Paul Robert Day, Jasmine Raine Maxfield, Lydia Jane Snyder, and Myra Jean Snyder; and her beloved great grandchildren, Camren Lynn Day, Travis Lee Day, Lorena Skye Day, Datin “JR” Day, Haiden Lee Stapp, Elliot Joseph Day and Elijah Jay Talley; and many nieces, nephews all of whom will miss her dearly and carry her memory with them always. She was loved by all who know her and will be missed by many dear friends as well. In addition to her parents Theodore and Helen Gudzikowski, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Allen Weaver, siblings, Margie Bugh, William Gudzikowski, Jonathon Gudzikowski, James Gudzikowski, Danny Gudzikowski and a grandson, Dawson Talley.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Helen’s home, on her birthday, Saturday, June 29, 2024, starting at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to bring a dish to pass as Helen loved to have big cookouts and pot-luck dinners! The family looks forward to seeing everyone there and celebrating her amazing life. Those planning an expression of sympathy are welcome to consider a contribution in Helen’s memory to the wishes of the family.
