Helen Sayers Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 4, 2024.
Helen was a full-time mother and was involved with the things her children did. Dance, motorcycle racing, car racing and boat racing. Helen was even a daring mom getting on the back of her sons motorcycle.
After Helen's children all left home she went back to school to become a nurse. Helen received her certificate and began a long career in nursing. Helen was a surgical nurse and worked in Dr. Descants office. Helen was a very strong woman with determination and she proved that completely during the time of her illness.
Helen had a scuba diving certification. She was an excellent seamstress, a painter and loved SDBA/NHRA/VDTRA racing. Helen was a go-getter.
Helen loved animals, flowers and grandkids. Helen didn't consider just blood family, she took her married in kids as her grands. They were hers too. This created Helen a herd of 5 grandkids and 17 great grandkids. Helen loved going to birthday parties and holiday events. She was memaw to all of them. Helen loved all her grands.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Sayers Jr.; son, Kenneth Sayers; father, Hector Greer; mother, Maggie Suther; and sister, Molly Greer.
Helen is survived by her son, Philip Sayers III and wife Janet; daughter, Phyllis Lynch and husband Don; grandkids, Donna, Christina, Justin, Eric and Elizabeth; great grandkids, Kael, Malick, Johnathan, Taylor, Savannah L, Austin, Caitlyn, Jason, Seth, Hailey, Caden, Cameron, Savannah M, Tanner, Landon, Jesse, and Kelsey.
Serving as pallbearers are Atalo Simen, Doc King, Bruce Mimnaugh, Clint Vanwinkle, Terri Haverlyn, and Forrest Weaver.
A special thank you to Elizabeth, Kelsey, Eric and nurse Tiffany, who were there to help with Helen/memaw whether it was helping Phil and Janet with her care, sitting with her, talking with her and being a big support. We could not have given such good care without your help.
