Helen Kay Simpson, (63) of Covington, KY, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony G. Simpson Sr. as well as sister Cassie Thornton, and parents Woodrow and Mary Bell Davidson. Helen is the mother of three loving daughters: Melissa Simpson, Sarah Wolking (Michael), and Nicole Kelly (Jonathan). She was grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren, whom she would describe as the apple of her eye: Matthew Simpson, Isabella Evans, and Grace Wolking. Helen was also a dear sister to Cassie Thornton, Bobby Joe Davidson, Darlene Carr and Linda Gayle Gorman. She was aunt to many nieces and nephews as well as great aunt to their children.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Helen was very fond of her Eastern Kentucky roots as a coal miner’s daughter. She cherished spending time with her family and would often take trips to visit distant relatives. A country girl at heart, she loved to listen to her Dad play the banjo, go to a bluegrass concert, or just listen to some good old fashioned country music! She had a gift for cooking and everyone had a place at Helen’s table.

A retired produce manager with years of experience working in retail, Helen was dedicated to her work as well as her family. With a witty sense of humor and a competitive streak she was always up for a good card game or a few rounds of Bingo! She was a sly one for sure!

As the years passed and her health began to decline, Helen transitioned alongside her husband to Rosedale Green Nursing Home where she was described as The Queen. Boy, did she let everyone know it! A resourceful one, Helen didn’t let the deficits of her declining health inhibit her desires. She found joy in the midst of sorrow, faith in GOD, and love for her new extended family. Helen captured the hearts of both residents and staff alike within her community. She loved her Rosedale Green family!
