A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Pastor Beth Drennen officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the graveside service.
Helen was born on December 21, 1937 in York County. She was the daughter of the late Robert L. McCarter, Sr. and Nettie McCarter and was the widow of Johnie "J.B." Spencer. Helen retired as a Registered Nurse and was a faithful member of Mount Vernon Church in Hickory Grove, SC.
She is survived by her sons, Craig Spencer (Susan) and Robert Spencer (Sonya); her seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Johnie Lee Spencer, and her siblings, Betty Patterson, Ann Mitchell, JW McCarter, and Robert Lee McCarter, Jr.
In memory of Helen Spencer, memorials may be made to Mount Vernon Church, PO Box 158 Hickory Grove, SC 29717.
