William Randy Templeton

William Randall "Randy" Templeton, 69, of York, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 28, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and sweet little pug, Betty. Randy was a beloved son, brother, husband, "Girl Dad", Papa, and friend to all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, Union Baptist Church of Filbert, 1945 Ratchford Rd. York, SC 29745. The Memorial service will start at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. Tony Klinedinst officiating.

Randy was joyfully welcomed into the world by parents, Bill and Lucille Templeton on June 20, 1956. He was the first of four children. A sister, Anita and two brothers, Tim and Jeff followed soon behind. He grew up in Rock Hill, SC and graduated from Northwestern High School in 1974, attended Clemson University (Go Tigers), graduating in 1978 with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Immediately after college he began, what would be, a 43-year career with Duke Energy. He was blessed to love his job and enjoyed going to work every day.

Randy and his wife, Ellen, enjoyed playing softball, following Clemson Football and traveling in earlier years of their marriage. Later on, spare time was spent enjoying the interests of their children, Mandy, Lindsey and Whitney. There were a multitude 4-H shows, trips to Band Competitions and so many sporting events. Often, taking the children in opposite directions to attend their individual events simultaneously, ending their day back at home on the family farm, a place that they always held dear. Recent years' attentions have turn to granddaughters, Riley and Ellie, Papa's joy!

When moving, due to job transfers, highest priority was to find a church, a place to worship and serve. Randy put his heart and soul into each one. He served the churches as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher for many age groups (including Prison Ministry and Nursing Home), choir member as well as various committees. He was a dedicated Christian, always willing to share his faith, not only through intentional witness, but in the way he lived, loved and gave throughout his life.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ellen; daughters, Mandy (Greg) Mull, Lindsey (Todd) Pruette and Whitney (Jake) Jenner; granddaughters, Riley Mull and Ellenor Pruette; his sister, Anita (Charlie) Kelly, brothers Tim (Nancy)Templeton and Jeff (Sharon) Templeton; an aunt, Anna Templeton; a sister-in-law, Jane (Mike) O'Dell and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, William M. and Lucille Templeton.
