Helen June Starr, 88, of Frankfort, passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in the Court House Manor with her family at her side. She was born on Saturday, January 9, 1937 in Frankfort, a daughter of the late Harry N. and Bonnie Sowers McQuiniff. Helen married William Starr on June 24, 1953. Bill preceded her in death on January 11, 2012.
She is survived by their seven children: Stillman (Dixie) Starr and William (Kathy) Starr of Washington C.H. , Beth Ann (Mike) Rinehart of Chillicothe, Philip (Karilyn) Starr, John (Lynn) Starr and June (John) Kruger all of Washington C.H., Donna (George) Ratcliff of McArthur, Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren; Kelli, Leslie, John, Chase, Kenny, Anne, Rhett, Lizabeth, Nicole, Olivia, Caleb, Kyle, Michael, Evan, Kari, Patrick, Jimmy, John Robert and Jared, two step grandchildren; Molly and John, fifty two great-grandchildren and two more on the way and nine great-great grandchildren. Helen June was preceded in death by her three sisters; Ruth Spears, Margaret Hughes and Hilda Moody and her two brothers; Ben and Jess McQuiniff
In addition to being a farm wife and dedicated mother, Helen had been a distributer of Stanley Home Products for several years. She was a school bus driver for the Adena Schools for thirty years, retiring in 1998.
Helen was a member of the Austin United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Greater Scioto Emmaus, a member of the Hilltoppers Garden Club, Concord Grange, Farm Bureau, the Ross County Cattlemans Club, a fifty-year member of a Canasta Group and a thirty-year member of a Bingo Club.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Scott Wise officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bill, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Family and friends can visit with her family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
