Helen Stipe Obituary
She was a lifelong resident of Big Stone Gap. She loved to quilt and crochet. She was a member of Cadet Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 20 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Lee Stipe; a son, Gary Stipe; parents, Roscoe and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Yeary) Williams; two brothers, James Williams and Benny Williams; and two sisters, Kathleen Williams and Geneva Lawson.
Surviving are her son, Jeffrey "Salt" Stipe and wife, Donna, Big Stone Gap; two grandchildren, Amy Brewer (Robert), Duffield, Va. and Jason Stipe, Big Stone Gap; one great grandson, Elijah "Eli" Brewer; sister, Shirley Shafer, Orlando, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and several very special friends, Joann Edens, Helen Horton, Sue Spears, Frankie Price, Shirley Akens, Linda Phillips, Sue Head, Charlotte Gatley, Linda Fleenor and Julie Underwood.
Special thanks to Renea Reece, her caregiver and special friend that she loved so dearly.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap.
The funeral service will be conducted 2:00pm Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, in the Gilliam Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Josh Tompkins officiating.
Burial will follow in Glencoe Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
