Helen Stovall, age 91 of Gatesville, passed away to be with her heavenly family on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Parks officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Helen Estelle Stovall was born May 24, 1934 to the late Troy Arthur Bruton and Martha Mae Anderson Bruton in Mound, Texas. She attended school in both Mound and Flat, graduating from Flat High School in 1951. Helen was very proud of the fact that she skipped the 2nd grade, moving from 1st to 3rd. She was very active in sports, playing basketball during her high school years. On June 13, 1951, she married the love of her life, Jackie Stovall and together they made their home in Gatesville. She worked as a dental hygienist and later in life obtained her LVN license, working at area medical facilities. She particularly enjoyed working in the nursery at Coryell Memorial Hospital. She was also employed at the State School for Boys in the Food Service Department. While she enjoyed working outside the home, her real life’s work was being a wife and mother. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Gatesville.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jackie Stovall; her parents; infant son, Danny Len Stovall; son, Kenneth Ray Stovall; sister, Joye Faucett; sister in law, Betsy Bruton; and granddaughter, Mariah Stovall.
She is survived by her daughter, Lana Collier and husband, David of Georgetown; son, Randy Stovall and wife, Tracye of Gatesville; brothers, Ronnie Bruton of Mound and Larry Bruton and wife Candace of Keller; grandchildren, Steven Collier and wife, Emily, Marc Collier and wife, Gina, Ashley Wilson and husband, Ronnie, Micah Stovall and fiancé, Becky Bishop, Kayleigh Stovall, Ryan Stovall, Callie Stovall; and great grandchildren, Callum Collier, Milah Jones, Brandon Crocker, Chloe Stovall, and Nora Stovall.
