Helen Strohfus, age 91 of Watertown, SD passed away Monday, May 6, 2024.
Funeral mass will be 10:00am, Monday, May 13, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.
Visitation will be 5:00pm - 7:00pm, Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown.
Helen Barbara (Albrecht) Strohfus, daughter of Herman J Albrecht and Anna (Vondra) Albrecht was born July 5, 1932.
She grew up on a farm by St Leo, MN. She attended St. Leo Catholic School till sixth grade, St Michael's Catholic School, Madison MN for seventh through ninth grade and graduated from Madison Public School, Madison MN in May 1950.
Her mother Anna died when she was 12 years old. It was up to her and her sister Alice to take care of her siblings and the household. She worked at the ASCS office in Madison for nine years.
Helen married Richard Strohfus on May 14, 1960 in Madison MN. They lived southwest of Watertown for 50 years, farming together and raising cattle. They retired and moved to Watertown in 2009. Richard passed away in 2018.
Helen enjoyed playing pinochle, crossword puzzles, gardening, dancing and casinos. She was also an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Her grand and great-grand children always brought a smile to her face. Helen passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024.
Helen is survived by her five children, Terry (Naomi) Strohfus, Hazel, SD, Daniel (Jennifer) Strohfus, Milpitas, CA, Harvey (Kris) Strohfus, Aberdeen, SD, Diane (Gene) Panka, Canby, MN and Randy (Julie) Strohfus, Council Bluffs, IA; sisters-in-law, Cindy Albrecht, Madison, MN, Mary Strohfus, Hastings, MN and Audrey Rausch, Watertown, SD; her brother-in-law, Fred Wall, Wayzata, MN; her nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; her two sisters, Alice Wall and Doris Johnson; and three brothers, Jerome Albrecht, LeRoy Albrecht and Herm Albrecht.
