Scott Strohfus, 60 of Garden City, SD passed away on December 13, 2025

A visitation will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the American Legion in Watertown, SD. There will be a time of sharing service at 2:00pm with Military Honors by the Codington County American Legion Post 17 and the SD Army National Guard to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Warriors Hope - Watertown or the Jimmy Fitzgerald Memorial.

Scott Wayne Strohfus, the son of Mike Strohfus and Kathy (Hanson) Demaray was born on November 28, 1965 in Brookings, SD.

Scott went to high school at Sioux Valley High in Volga, SD, graduating in 1984. After high school, Scott entered the National Guard for a short while before enlisting into the Army in July of 1985. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA and was part of the Multi National Peace Keeping Force. From 1988 – 1989 he was deployed to Egypt and Israel. He was discharged from the Army at Ft. Polk, LA in 1989.

In 1985, Scott was united in marriage to Chris Herrick in Volga, SD. To this union, he was blessed with two children, Angela and Joshua. The couple eventually went their separate ways. In 1992, Scott married Beth Hammer in Brookings, SD. In 2003 this union ended.

On August 20, 2006 Scott married Laina Blocker in Watertown, SD.

Scott spent his working days as a truck driver, machinist, carpenter and an equipment operator in the Volga, SD area. He was a member of the Jaycees, the VFW and the American Legion.

Scott is survived by his wife, Laina of Garden City, SD; his father, Mike Strohfus of Volga, SD; his daughter, Angela Strohfus and children, Dylan and Nevaeh of Brookings, SD; his son, Josh (Donna) Strohfus and their children, Trinity, Miyah, Madelyn, Abels and Allyana of Canton, SD; Beth's children, Leah, Amanda, Jess and Angela; Laina's children, Devin (Jennifer) and children, Zoey, Ashtin and Quinnley, Bryce (Kayleen) and Clayton; his brother, Stacy Strohfus of Spearfish, SD; and a host of other family, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Demaray; and his service dog, Bear; along with many other pets.
