Helen Perry Sylvester, a beloved matriarch, was born on November 11, 1952, to the cherished union of Jessie Sr. and Eugenia Perry in Plantersville, AL. She peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly Father on September 3, 2025, at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and faith.

A dedicated member of Elyton Missionary Baptist Church, Helen accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and lived her life as a testament to her faith. Her over 30 years of service at Eightmile Nursing Home exemplified her unwavering kindness and generosity. Helen had a remarkable ability to uplift those around her, offering words of encouragement, a helping hand, and a compassionate ear, making her a beacon of hope and inspiration in her community.

Helen was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Louise McGee and Annie Jean Goodwin; her brothers, Vangilee Perry and Jessie Perry; and her cherished grandson, Joshua Lunsford.

She is lovingly remembered by her companion, Simmie Brown, and her children: Shirla (Damien) Gatson Sr., Stacey Lunsford, Sommers (John) Southall, Shunn L. Sylvester, and Sherry Sylvester, all of Mobile, AL. Helen is also survived by her brothers, Donald (Ruthie) Perry and Clifford (Shunda) Perry of Selma, AL, and Eugene (Sophia) Perry of Lithonia, GA; her sisters, Kimberly (Charlie) Moppins of Selma, AL, and Bernadine (Jerry) McCray of Plantersville, AL. She leaves behind twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a vast network of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and devoted friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Helen Perry Sylvester's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and resilience. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her legacy will live on in the lives she touched.

We love you granny, we miss you granny. The best granny you can ask for is you. The one who on speed dial and the one who stayed around corner. The woman in name after and my birthday after.
