Helen Jean Thomae, 92, Rib Mountain, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025, under Interim Hospice Care surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 24, 1932, in Neva, Wisconsin and graduated from Antigo High School. Daughter of Lillian (Pacer) and Frank Schwartz. Helen married the love of her life, Thomas G. Thomae, on February 19, 1955.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Lori Thomae; daughter, Sandra Kilinski (Fiancé Jim); son, Gregory (Kari) Thomae; and stepson, Thomas O. Thomae; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Laura) Thomae, Sarah (Tom) Reynolds, Aaron Thomae, Adam (Michelle) Thomae, Korey (Dina) Kilinski, Kayla (Jeffrey) Mauer, Tyler Thomae, and Dakota (Fiancé Brooklyn); 15 great grandchildren, Liam, Edie, and Louis Thomae, Rachel, Luke, and Leah Reynolds, Jaxon and Isaac Thomae, Konnor, Ila, and Dawson Kilinski, Cameron Thomae, Carson and Madisyn Mauer and Emery Thomae. Further survived by brother, Robert (Mona) Schwartz; sisters-in-law, Patricia Schwartz, Peg Thomae and Carol Meadows.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Thomae; son, David Thomae; stepson, Kenneth Thomae; brothers, Norman and Gene Schwartz.
For over 30 years, Helen was a dedicated employee to Wausau Child Care. In her early years, she enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, and traveling with their motorhome. Helen also enjoyed spending time in her garden, tending to her flowers, baking and cooking for her family, and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, WI, 54403. Visitation from 9:30 AM to the time of service at 11:00 AM conducted by grandson, Christopher Thomae. Following the service, burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park.
