Helen Penniman Marsh Tredwell, a beloved pillar of strength for her family and community, passed away on August 10, 2025, at the age of 93 in Aurora, Colorado. Helen was a Leap Year baby, born on February 29, 1932, in Ohio. Helen shared her Leap Year birth with her dear father, and their photograph was featured on the front page of the Springfield newspaper. Helen was a beacon of intelligence, faith, generosity, and caring support throughout her life.

Educated initially in Springfield, MA, at the local elementary school, Helen furthered her education at The Master's School in Dobbs Ferry, NY, before attending Wheaton College, MA. She lived up to the Master's School motto "Do It With Your Might".

Always ready to stand up for causes,, Helen helped to establish an AA halfway house in White Plains, worked with her husband Bob on affordable housing options with UDC, covered the hot line for the Narcotics Guidance Counsel, became a Hospice volunteer, then raised funds for the Mt Kisco daycare center which also provided Elder daycare. She credited her volunteer training to time with the Junior League.

Her professional journey was marked by significant contributions at Armonk Travel in New York and Hospice of Northern Westchester in Mt. Kisco, NY. She continued her dedicated volunteer work at the Atria and Cherry Creek retirement community libraries, where residents fondly called Helen, "The Librarian".

Beyond her professional and volunteer engagements, Helen was a devout member of the First Congregational Church of Chappaqua, NY, where she participated actively in community and church activities. Her personal interests included being a prolific reader - having read 100 books in the year 2024 alone - gardening, playing tennis and golf, traveling with Elder Hostel and planning many family gatherings and vacations.

Family was the cornerstone of Helen's life. She is survived by her older sister Elizabeth Marsh Carstensen, loving daughters, Mary Tredwell Botway and Elizabeth Tredwell Tessler; sons-in-law, Cooper Botway and A. Dana Tessler; and her grandchildren, Clinton Botway, Joseph Tessler and Caroline Tessler Pinkowitz, along with their respective spouses, Jennifer Botway, Sophia Shah, and Andrew Pinkowitz. Two joys were her great grandchildren, Eli Pinkowitz and Elaine Botway. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alanson Robert Tredwell, and her parents, Margorie Sawhill Marsh and Edward Harding Marsh, Jr. and her brother, John Harding Marsh.

A Memorial Service celebrating Helen's life and legacy will be held in Bronxville, NY, in the spring. Her life's impact and the void she leaves behind will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
