under hospice care for more than a year. Helen was a loving wife, mother
and grandmother. Helen was born and raised in Oakland, CA and met her
husband Bruce at a local church Bible study. They were married in 1958
and stayed together until his passing in 2006. Helen was trained as a

was not working. She returned to work as a hospice nurse in Palm Springs
in 2002. She loved taking care of those on their final journey and really felt
it was her calling.
Helen and Bruce moved to Southern California after they were married.
Over the years, they lived in Pasadena, San Gabriel, Redondo Beach and
Palm Desert. Helen eventually moved to Apple Valley to be closer to her
son following Bruce's passing.
Helen had an infectious laugh and loved to entertain. She was known for
her legendary Christmas fudge and cranberry bread. She was very talented
at crocheting, Her family still has many of the blankets that she had made
for them over the years. Helen had a love for animals. She and her
husband Bruce showed shetland sheep dogs in the early 1970's. Their
dogs won numerous awards. She also had a fondness for cats especially
her rag dolls Angel and Mocha.
Helen loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a member of Lake Avenue
Congregational Church in Pasadena for many years. She also attended
several churches in the Palm Desert area. Though she experienced many
tough times and struggled with health issues for most of her life, she never
lost her faith in Jesus Christ.
