Helga Alicia Pérez Dabel, age 66, passed away on January 15, 2024 at her home in Roosevelt, Utah with her family by her side.
Helga was born August 17, 1957 in Nueva Imperial, Chile to Francisco Javier Pérez Figueroa and Maria Isabel Urra Melgarejo. Her family moved to the town of Temuco, Chile where she lived until she married in 1980. She traveled to the United States on Thanksgiving Day, 1980 to marry Harold Abram Ovitt Dabel on December 19, 1980 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Helga had an amazing voice and sang throughout her life, she loved to share her gift. During the last three years of her life, while battling an aggressive form of cancer, she recorded over 1000 songs on the Smule app. She enjoyed gardening, was an excellent cook and delighted in cooking various things, especially items from her Chilean Culture.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized as an 8 year old convert, with her parents and siblings. She enjoyed learning about other cultures and sharing what she learned. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family and they will miss her everyday.
She is survived by her children, Harold Joseph (Amanda) Dabel, Christopher Alexander (Paola) Dabel, Patrick Javier (Rachel) Dabel, Brooke Lindsey, Ashlee Nicole (Zach Allred) Dabel, 12 grandchildren and her siblings, Maria “Lenny” (Jay) Gordet, Blanca Luz Stevens, Francisco Gonzalo “Pancho” Pérez, Gloria Isabel (Dan) McCullen, Flor Victoria (Don) Warburton, Miguel Angel (Tiffany) Pérez, Rosa “Ivonne” Pérez, Patricia Corsina (Shawn) Anderson, and José David Pérez.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Andrea Alicia Dabel, and infant sister, Patricia Corsina Pérez.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Roosevelt 2nd Ward & Cove 2nd (250 W 200 N). A viewing will be held that day from 11:30 - 12:45.
Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
