Helga A. Fratello

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother Helga Angeles Fratello (Lopez) at the age of 73. Helga peacefully departed from this world on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison NJ. She was born on December 20, 1949, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Helga was a woman of remarkable character, strength, grace and timeless charm. She possessed an innate love for the arts, with a special appreciation for the soulful melodies of Motown music. It was on the dance floor where Helga truly came alive, mesmerizing all with her graceful movements and unparalleled poise. She was a devoted mother who lovingly raised her three daughters: Michele Richardson, Diane Vodarsik, and Natasha Spier. Helga was also a caring sister to Lissette Berrios, Annette Vargas (deceased), and Herminio Alicea Jr. Her memory will forever be cherished by her six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She has now joined her Mother Angeles Alicea, her father Herminio Nuncy Alicea, and her sister Annette Vargas, in eternal peace. Helga's educational journey took her to Carteret High School, where she emerged as a distinguished graduate. Seeking to perfect her skills, she pursued her passion at the Rainbow Hair and Cosmetology Academy. Her commitment to excellence resonated in her professional life, as she dedicated herself to a fulfilling career with DHL. Her unwavering dedication and relentless work ethic earned her numerous accolades and commendations .In moments of respite; Helga found a solace in the harmonies of Motown and the joy of dance. Yet above all, her cherished daughters remained the center of her world, filling her heart with an immeasurable love.
The Funeral will be on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 9 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue in Carteret, NJ, with a religious service at 9:30 AM. Interment at Clover Leaf Memorial Park in Woodbridge will follow. Family and friends may pay their respects at the visitation on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM.
Charitable contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, an organization that is dedicated to supporting those affected by this devastating disease.
