Helmut Kraft

Helmut Kraft passed away at the age of 86 after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, May 11, 2025. He was born to the late Friedrich and Emma Kraft (Klein) in Stuttgart Germany.
He grew up in the small town of Höpfigheim where he lived until coming to America in 1958. WE BELIEVE he now rests in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus and with his beloved wife, Zita, daughter Linda Moiseenko, grandson Jason Ruvo and many who have gone before him.
He is survived by his daughter Rita Bush (Scott Bush) of Ballston Spa, son Frank Kraft (Janette Kraft) of Albany, Ohio and grandchildren William (Ashtyn), Benjamin, Luke, and Jesse Bush; Elise Yarnell (Justin), Stefan, Emma Marie, Peter, Marta, and Hanna Kraft; Alexandra Kirkpatrick (Moiseenko) (Josh Kirkpatrick) and several great-grandchildren. He also has two brothers and two sisters still living in Germany.
Upon arriving in the Bronx with empty pockets in 1958, he lived with relatives until he married Zita on October 8, 1960. They eventually moved to Briarcliff Manor where they resided for 50 years.
He will be remembered as a hard worker in his gifted craft of Master Butcher in the German tradition. He commuted to New York City to work in the wholesale meat market for F. Strassburger Inc. for most of his working career. He was an avid outdoorsman and gardener, enjoyed cooking (and eating) and was known for his pithy and amusing sayings.
Helmut was a 50+ year member of Bavarian Club Edelweiss of Westchester and will be missed for his service and friendship to the Club. He leaves a remarkable legacy that will go on for generations to come. Auf Wiedersehen!
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Armer Funeral Home, Inc. 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa 12020 for a service at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Rose Hills Memorial Park 100 Mill Street Putnam Valley, New York 10579.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
