Henry Boone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory - May's Lick on Dec. 27, 2025.
Henry Lamar Boone, 74 of Maysville passed away Friday December 26, 2025. He was born February 3, 1951 to the late Henry H. & Mildred Pollock Boone of Maysville, KY. He is a 1969 graduate of Maysville High School and then obtained his Bachelor's degree at the University of Kentucky in 1973. He later received his Master's in Education from Morehead State University. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend.

Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Angela Bellamy Boone; his son Justin K. Boone and his sisters, Aretta Boone Bartlett and Jerrye Jo Boone Redden.

Henry dedicated many years to the youth of Mason County through teaching, coaching, and serving as the Director of Beechwood Park. He was a lifelong member of DeKalb Lodge and served as Noble Grand in 1982. He was an educator for 27 years at Maysville and Mason County High Schools retiring from The Mason County Board of Education in 2000. He was impactful as an educator and coach who inspired all those who he taught in the classroom and on the court or field. After retiring from his passion in education he embarked on a second career with Mason County Fiscal Court retiring from there in 2020. In addition, he was a licensed Real Estate Agent through Boone Real Estate which was founded by his Father. Throughout all of his careers, he could be found most weekends working at Kenton Station Golf Course where he spent countless hours with his second family.

Henry was a dedicated sports fan and could be heard on the sidelines of his children and grandchildren's sporting events through the years and cheering on the University of Kentucky football and basketball teams and his beloved Mason County Royals. He enjoyed playing golf and especially his annual spring golf trip to Myrtle Beach with some of his best friends. Henry was especially fond of his three dogs Ellie Mae, Riley Marie, and Tobin Keith who he spoiled daily with treats and affection. He spent many years on his farm where he raised tobacco, enjoyed cutting wood, and broke more than he could fix.

Henry is survived by his children Angie Boone (Chad) Ishmael, Henry Clay (Jennifer) Boone, Sarah Boone Jayasuriya, Bradley (Hannah) Boone, Maddie (Dorian) Henry, and Katie Boone. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Jarrod (Chelsea), Spencer and Libby Ishmael, Bailey and Henry Blake Boone, Izzy and Jax Jayasuriya, Kami Henry, and Layla Boone and Great Grandson Beckett Freeman.
