Henry Allen Carter, age 71, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Henry was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 11, 1954, to Henry and Geraldine "Jerry" (Week) Carter. He was raised in Blanchard and Texas.

In 1973, he married Pam, the love of his life. He began his family in Tecumseh and lived a short time in Oklahoma City and Tribbey before moving back to Tecumseh in 1980 and has since lived here.

Henry began his drywall career working with his mom and dad in the family business. He worked in Missouri, Oregon, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. Later his grandsons joined him in carrying on the family business.

He was passionate about fishing and deer hunting. Henry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He has served as the family Santa Claus since 1977.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kerry James Carter; brothers, Lonnie and Jerry Carter.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Pam Carter of the home; son and daughter-in-law Keith and Kim Carter, Lawton Oklahoma; daughter-in-law and spouse Eva and Tracy Holden, Joplin Missouri; sisters, Berdina Richardson, Norman Oklahoma, Barbara Carter and Pam Millican, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brenda Lay, Bridge Creek Oklahoma, Beverly Carter, Ponca City Oklahoma, Braunita Sue Keeling, Lexington Oklahoma, Belva Carter-Mann and Ron Mann, Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, Brecinda Robertson, Bridge Creek Oklahoma; grandchildren Allen Carter, Lawton Oklahoma, Kaitlyn Carter, Lawton Oklahoma, Kelton Carter, Shawnee, Oklahoma; Kerra and Dakota Bohn, Joplin Missouri, Lauren Holden, Joplin Missouri, Brooke Holden, Joplin Missouri, Blaire Holden, Joplin Missouri, Trey and Melita Holden, Joplin Missouri, Trevor and Reagan Holden, Joplin Missouri; and other loving family and friends.

Public visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025 with family gathering from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Cooper Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Sharon Baptist Church with Pastor Terri Nail and Reverend Tracy Holden officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
