Henry "Blu" Douglas Davis, named for his maternal great great grandfather; was born on January 23, 1947, to Fred Davis and Mary Lucille Mosley Davis on the family estate in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. He was reared on his family's 40 acre farm by his grandparents in Ringgold, Louisiana before moving to Kansas City, Kansas, where he attended Northeast Junior High and later Sumner. High School. There he distinguished himself as both a student and an athlete competing in football and track, and serving as the sports editor for the student publication. He graduated proudly with the Sumner High School Class of 1967.

After graduation, Henry dedicated himself to his community and the pressing work of the times. In 1968, during what was intended to be a routine meeting with JACS (Joint Action in Community Service) "an organization. meant to support neighborhood job initiatives" financial disputes escalated and quickly gave rise to false accusations. The incident that led to the arrests of Henry and others was later widely understood to have been the product of racial tension and heightened surveillance of Black community organizing. Wrongly accused, Henry's name 'like so many others' was pushed into decades of silence. The tragedy of that era is that men like Henry Douglas Davis, who were not nationally known activists or public figures, suffered injustices without the support of a broader national defense. Following his release from political imprisonment, Henry was reunited with his family and lived the remainder of his life as a cherished, respected, and deeply beloved elder. His strength, dignity, and quiet resilience became pillars for his family and community, and his legacy endures in the lives he touched and the love he leaves behind.

Henry was proceeded in transition by his mother Mary Lucille Mosley Williams, father Fred Davis and sister Carolyn Jean Jackson.

He leaves behind, his 6 remaining siblings (Dottie Newsom; Anne McGruder; Joeail Williams; JoAnn Dodd (Charles); Anthony Jamison (Jacqueline); Vincent Williams (Nicole)) , a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends to remember his legacy.
