Henry was born in Morris, Manitoba, Canada. He was the sixth child of Henry and Elizabeth Dueck. The first fourteen years of his life were spent on a farm close to a railroad, creating a lifelong enjoyment of trains. He struggled in school, completing fifth grade. In 1948, the family moved to Los Jagueyes, Mexico. Henry worked for his dad who owned a furniture store, his uncle Willy Dueck and Abram C Penner. Henry drove to Chihuahua several times a week to get gas, mail and other items the colony needed. At different times he'd be taking sick people along to Chihuahua on the back of the truck among the barrels. He was baptized on May 10,1953. On October 20, 1957, he married the love of his life, Mary Kornelsen. Their marriage lasted for 67 years, 3 months, and 21 days. To this union were born eight children, seven still living. Dad went into farming after marriage, but on occasion he would still haul a few loads. He was in charge of the cheese factory, thus giving the children the privilege of sneaking tidbits of cheese. Then in 1977, they moved to
Boley, OK. Henry went into carpentry, grain farming and raising a few head of cattle as sidelines. He also raised parakeets for 20 years. Dad had a dry sense of humor and was a man of few words. Dad spent his money investing in his family instead of pursuing his personal interests. He enjoyed traveling, horses, and trains. Henry fell off a horse when it stepped into gopher hole as a teenager receiving a concussion that left him doing the all the normal things a bit differently for a few days.
