Obituary of Peter L Dueck, age 82
Dad was born on April 25, 1943, to Heinrich and Elizabeth Dueck in Morris Manitoba, and died at his home in Boley, Oklahoma on December 24, 2025. In 1948, when Peter was just 5 years old, his parents moved their family to Chihuahua Mexico. Peter grew up in Chihuahua, where he got his education and attended church with his family. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus on December 10, 1960, at the age of 17. He married the love of his life, Maria Wolfe, on August 17, 1969. 4 children were born to them in Mexico. In 1977 Peter and Maria moved their family to Oklahoma, where 3 more children were born. They were married for 56 years and had 7 children. Family was important to Dad, and he especially loved interacting with his little grandchildren. He started trucking early on in Mexico and made that a lifelong career; after moving to Oklahoma he took on some carpentry jobs but soon got back into trucking. On July 7, 1995, he started the family business, Dueck Trucking which is still in operation today. He enjoyed shipping farm equipment to South America, and his final load was picking up a shipment of school desks in Weatherford Texas to send to Africa for Redecop Missions. Dad also dabbled in farming and ranching and took great pleasure in driving his pickup truck into the pasture and watching the herd of cows gather around. 2018 came with great changes and challenges for the whole family when, on February 2nd, Dad suffered a severe stroke that left him partially paralyzed. He regained some of his strength over the years, but he was never able to walk again. In spite of relatively good health, he was completely dependent upon caregivers and spent the next 8 years in a wheelchair. Some of Dad's most cherished moments in those years were weekends spent with his sons and son in law, who took turns staying with him, He looked forward to Saturday mornings going out for coffee and breakfast and would often be joined there by a few more of his sons as well as friends. In 2020 Dad fell ill and was hospitalized. He was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure, a condition that plagued him over the years, and he ultimately succumbed to it. Dad was known for his generosity, his love of entertaining guests, and his ability to make friends wherever he went. He never met a stranger and carried a meek, gentle spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Dad will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. He is survived by his wife Maria, of the home, Lorna and Larry Friesen of Honey Grove TX, Richard and Lisa Dueck of Hutchinson Ks, Terry and Susan Dueck of Prague Ok, Garland and Agatha Dueck of Prague OK, Calvin and Yolanda Dueck of Paden OK, Jeffrey and Jessica Dueck of Boley OK, Wesley and Annette Dueck of Shawnee OK. As well as 28 grandchildren and one great grandchild, and 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He is preceded in death by both parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Parks Brothers Funeral Home, as well as friends and family for their support and prayers and all the meals that were brought. Thank you to everyone who visited Dad over the last 8 years. A special thanks to Kenny Gates who has been Dad's caretaker for the last 5 plus years.
