Henry Frederick "Rick" Eggers passed away on August 21, 2023 in his home in Tallahassee, Florida. Rick was born to loving parents Henry F. Eggers, Jr. and Marcia Mohler Eggers on February 2, 1959 in Gainesville, Florida. He lived in Orlando, Florida, Blowing Rock, North Carolina (summers), and eventually settled in Tallahassee, Florida.
Rick graduated from Maynard Evans High School in Orlando. He attended Stetson University and The Florida State University. He also served in the United States Army. Rick was employed by the State of Florida, serving in roles with the Florida Lottery Department, Florida Department of Transportation, Leon County Tax Collector's Office and the Leon County Sheriff's Department. He retired from the Leon County Sheriff's Department in 2015.
Rick was involved in many community activities, such as volunteering with the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, where he served as a board member; Celebrate America, where he served in many positions; the Leon County Democratic Committee, where he served as chairperson; and the City of Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, where he served as chairperson.
Rick was predeceased by his parents and his wonderful step-mother Anne A. Eggers. He is survived by Mari Marcanio (Steve), Kristi Hamilton, Marshall Atkinson (Jodi), Timothy Atkinson (Missy), Mike Atkinson (Toya), Phil Atkinson (Beth), Andrew Atkinson (Amber), and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Rick's neighbors Julius and Tawny Glover and Linda Knetsch.
Rick's family will be holding a private service at a later date. Todd Wahlquist is assisting the family with their arrangements (850-385-2193, www.bevisfh.com).

He was the best man at my wedding. Rick was one of the nicest men I've ever known. His passing is truly a great loss for so many.
