Henry "Poppy" Fannin, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 16, 1938 in Woodford County, Kentucky he was the son of the late George Dewey and Allie Hatfield Fannin. Henry proudly served in the United States Army where attained the rank of Sergeant. He retired from being an insurance appraiser and was a lifelong farmer as well as being a skilled autobody mechanic. Henry was a member of the Buford Landmark #41 Masonic Lodge and Mt. Edwin United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Linda Crenshaw, Louise Polsgrove, Lindsey Fannin, Tommy Fannin.
Henry will be lovingly remembered by his children, Lisa (Dale) Varner, Versailles, Bryan (Heather) Fannin, Ricky Fannin, both of Nonesuch, sisters, Sharon (Charles) Adams, Nicholasville, Evelyn Traugott, Paint Lick, Ann (Burt) Reed, North Carolina, brothers, James (Betty) Fannin, Versailles, Bill Fannin, Nicholasville, grandchildren, Eric (Bethany) Varner, Emily Varner, Brandon Fannin, Justin Beglau, Kandice (Zach) Marshall, great-grandchildren, Ryder & Bennett Marshall.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Masonic Services will follow at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00pm on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Pastor Nick Green officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Justin Beglau, Brandon Fannin, Zach Marshall, Eric Varner, Austin Tussey and Mike Harlow. Honorary pallbearers will be Mac McCauley, Mike Richardson, Jimmy Sutherland, Jimmy Downey, Steve Ward, and Don Adkins. Memorial donations are suggested to Alzheimer's Association Greater KY and Southern IN, 6100 Dutchmans Ln, Ste 401 Louisville, KY 40205. Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolence and share memories here on Henry's tribute wall.
