Henry Langley Howse
July 24, 1928 – January 4, 2025
Lang, as he was known by family and friends, passed peacefully from congestive heart
failure. Born in San Francisco, his family moved to Antioch, CA, when he was about 10
years old. He remained there until 1985 when he and his wife, Lois, retired to their cabin
which they had built several years before in Pioneer (Amador County). In retirement
they became engrossed with genealogy, traveling around the US as well as trips to
England and Germany. Lang also became a woodworker, building several pieces of
furniture which he handed down to family members. He loved his mountain home, but
his children convinced him at the age of 97 that it was time to get out of the snow and
be a little closer to medical services; so, in February 2024, he entered assisted living in
Fairfield, where he resided at the time of his passing.
Lang was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Lois Wills Howse; his parents,
Henry and Mildred Howse; in-laws Clarence and Floy Wills, as well as sister-in-law and
brother-in-law, Lola and Jim Biancalana.
He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Booth, his two children, Rebecca and Randall, as
well as their spouses, three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and
nephews.
At his request, no services will be conducted. In lieu of remembrances, donations to the
American Heart Association would be appreciated
