Mr. Henry Ivey, Jr., son of the late Bobbie Mae Evans and the late Henry Ivey, Sr. was born in Thomson (McDuffie County), GA on Tuesday, April 9, 1940. He made his transition from 'labor' to 'reward' and departed this earthly life as he knew it on Sunday, July 28, 2024, while in the comfort of his residence in Thomson (McDuffie County), GA.
Henry accepted Jesus, The Christ into his life as his personal savior and joined the Stoney Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Warrenton (Warren County), GA. During his working years, he was gainfully employed with the former National Homes Company and later employed with Reeves Construction Company (formerly known as Knox-Rivers Construction Company), both of Thomson, GA, until he retired.
In his youthful days, Henry enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. Once he retired, he enjoyed playing the games of Spade and Checkers to pass the time. Our beloved Henry Ivey, Jr. was a peaceful and loving person, he was a kind man who loved people and always looked forward to spending time with his family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Henry is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kayla Harris along with nine siblings: Bessie McGahee, Thelma Brown, Mary Lois Ivey, Mary Frances Taylor, Betty Jean Jackson, Lula Bell Hobbs, Toby Lee Ivey, Sam Ivey and Herbert Ivey.
Dearest loved ones left to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Alene Reese Ivey of Thomson, GA; two daughters, Mary Ann Ivey and Josephine (Jimmy) Hill, all of Thomson, GA; two sons, Henry Lee Ivey and Tommy (Belinda) Harris, all of Thomson, GA; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cleo Felts, Lena Mae Ivey and Bobbie Jean Ivey, all of Thomson, GA; five sisters-in-law, Eddie Mae Reese, Mildred Reese, Virginia Reese, Diane (Sammie) Harris, all of Thomson, GA and Betty Reese of Augusta, GA; four brothers-in-law, Bobby (Ruth Mae) Reese William Hobbs Jr., Willie Major, all of Thomson, GA and Jimmy (Brenda) Reese of Dillon, SC; a devoted nephew, Min.
