Henry Jemison Sr.

Henry "Buck" Jemison, Sr., 82, of Selma, Alabama, beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann (Goodale) Jemison, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Born in Selma, Alabama on October 9, 1942, son of the late Willie Jemison, Sr. and Vela Heard-Jemison, he was raised in Selma, Alabama and moved with his family to Hartford, CT in 1960. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Patricia Ann (Goodale) Jemison; three brothers, Preston Jemison, A.C Jemison, and Sheppard Jemison; his beloved son, Robert Jemison; and a grandson, William Jemison.

Shortly after arriving in Hartford, Henry took a position at Chandler-Evans in West Hartford. Henry worked in a variety of capacities over his 20-plus years with the company and retired as a foreman.

"Buck" was a happy, humble, and a private man who enjoyed keeping healthy habits, eating fruits, pecans and lots of vegetables. His daily routine would start with exercising at home, then an early morning run through the park, and then riding his bike. He also enjoyed taking rides through the country and playing basketball and was well-known for his infamous "hook shot". Most of all, Henry will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, being with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren.

He leaves to mourn in his passing, eight children, Cheryl Jemison, Henry Jemison Jr., Rebecca Jemison and her husband Charles Morton, Jamie Jemison, Janeen Jemison, Joelene Jemison, Justine Jemison, Jeanna Jemison; a special friend who he called his Godson, Raymond Slaybaugh of Selma, Alabama; two brothers, Willie Jemison Jr. and his wife Patricia of Selma, Alabama and Muammar Muhammad and his wife Maria of Selma, Alabama; three sisters, Ruby Minnifield of Bloomfield, CT, Tina Jemison of Newington, CT, and Barbara Roberts and her husband Wayne Roberts of Hartford, CT; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 24, 10-11 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 11 a.m., at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
