Henry Ben Kubena Jr., of Muldoon, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 29, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on December 31, 1937, in East Bernard, Texas, he lived a long and full life marked by dedication to God first, his family, service to his country, and a lifelong love for the Houston Astros.
He was the beloved husband of Kathryn Kubena and a devoted father to his two sons Thomas Kubena and Henry Kubena III; and his daughter, Lee Ann Nelson. Henry was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother, Delphine Kubena, and sister, Birdie Jo Hlavinka.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Kubena Sr. and Annie Kubena; his brother, EJ Kubena; and his grandson, Eric Kubena.
Henry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy bring comfort and strength to all who mourn his passing.
Services to celebrate Henry will be held Friday, September 5, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Smithville.
The visitation will begin at 10:00am and the service will begin at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville.
