Henry G. Kunkel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories. He was the devoted husband of Phyllis for 61 beautiful years, together building a family rooted in love and care. Henry was the proud and loving father of Kari (Kevin Harang) Wendorf and Chris (Laurie) Kunkel. His heart swelled with pride for his grandchildren, Katie, Michael, Ava and Adyson, all of whom he adored. Dear brother of Carolyn Deneweth and Ron Kunkel and his late sister, Maryann Cummings. Henry's zest for life was contagious. He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh that could light up any room. He was passionate about blues music and loved to dance, filling many evenings with joy and rhythm. In his spare time, Henry enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, like cutting the grass and exploring the beauty of Northern Michigan, where he often visited with his family. Outside of his family, Henry found his greatest joy on the water. Boating was his favorite pastime and the peacefulness of being on the water brought him a sense of contentment like nothing else. An avid swimmer, he was always drawn to the water, whether it was lakes, rivers or the ocean. Traveling was another of Henry's passions, especially to Disney, where he created countless memories with his family. Henry had a long and fulfilling career with Ford Motor Company, where he worked for over 41 years before retiring. His dedication and work ethic left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the company. Above all, Henry was a loving father figure and an extraordinary grandfather. His family was his pride and joy and he cherished every moment spent with them. His warmth, humor and unwavering love will be missed by all who knew him. Henry's life was a testament to love, laughter and adventure. He leaves behind a family who will carry forward his spirit and memory in their hearts forever. A visitation will take place at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home 8459 Hall Rd. (3Blks E. of Van Dyke) Utica, on Wednesday (August 28th) from 2pm - 8pm, with a prayer service at 6pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday (August 29th) at St. Kieran Catholic Church 53600 Mound Rd. Shelby Twp., he will lie instate at 9:30am until the time of Mass at 10am.
