Mr. Henry Jackson Reid III "Jack" born November 5, 1946, in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Richard and Edythe Reid. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 20, 2022, as his loving Wife held his hand, and his family was by his side. We mourn for the emptiness we are left with but feel peace that he is no longer suffering or in pain. It is so amazing and comforting for his loved ones to know he is in the presence of God. He is a Child of the King, a Soldier, Husband, Dad, Father-in-law, Papa, Great Papa, Uncle, and Brother. He was proud to serve and sacrifice with honor for 14 years in the United States Army, serving one tour in Vietnam. He struggled greatly the last few years of his life but still kept his will to help others and his crazy sense of humor. No matter what he was going through he always made other people laugh! He was a humble, strong, straight to the point, hardworking, get it done kind of man with a big heart who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. We are blessed to have known him and been loved by him. He loved his Church family, and he loved being a part of the bus Ministry where he served for a number of years. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Reid; two brothers, William, and James Reid; and a granddaughter, Sarah Madison O'Neal. He is survived by his Wife, Catherine Steininger Reid; a daughter, Shannon O'Neal (Shawn); a son, Joshua Reid (Brandy); six grandchildren, Seth (Brittany), Skyler, Shane and Saige O'Neal, Cas, Mason, and Lily Reid; two great-grandchildren, Everleigh, and Brayleigh O'Neal; one brother, Richard F. Reid; and one sister, Donna Bowles. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday October 29, 2022, at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall with Pastor Jon White officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In Lieu of flowers the Family has requested that donations be made to the Freedom Baptist Church Bus Ministry 1000 Rural Hall-Germanton Road, Rural Hall NC, 27045.
