Henry Corbett Spires, 88, of Macon, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Funeral services to honor his life will be held Monday, February 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, with Pastor Phil Skelton and Dr. Brad Marchman officiating. Mr. Spires will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Spires was born on August 5, 1937, in Milan, Georgia, to the late Henry Marion Spires and Mary Rebecca Spires. He retired from Inland Container Corporation after many years of dedicated service as a machine operator.
A faithful member of Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, Mr. Spires lived a life of service to others. He worked hard throughout his life and instilled that same work ethic in his children. Known for his dependability and selflessness, he spent many years driving a Yellow Cab, which he viewed as a ministry, listening, encouraging, and helping others much like a therapist would. He was kind-hearted, well loved, and always took pride in caring for the things he had been blessed with.
Mr. Spires enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, had a deep love for old motorcycles, and was passionate about motor sports. A devoted NASCAR fan, he especially enjoyed following Bill and Chase Elliott. Above all else, he loved his family dearly and would do anything for them.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Spires was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Dobson; brothers, Chriss Spires and Jimmy Spires; and grandchild, Dusty Dobson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 68 years, Eberline Attaway Spires; son, Tony (Johnna) Spires; daughter, MaDonna (Yvese) Burgand; brother, Roger (Betty) Spires; grandchildren, Charity (Thomas) Sapp, Hannah DeFore, Caleb (Jessica) DeFore, Lydia Joy DeFore, Brandon (Kristin) Spires, and Jenna (Kendell) Marzoll; great-grandchildren, Kaden Sapp, Shelby Weaber, Ellie Marzoll, Corbett Marzoll, Kai Dobson, and Lennon Dobson; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
