Gary Spires Obituary
Mr. Gary Mitchell Spires, 74, of Walterboro, entered into rest Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Marlene Meyers Spires.
Born September 1, 1951, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Fred Spires and the late Thelma Cobb Spires. He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and was a retired rigger from Tobyhanna Army Depot in Pennsylvania. He was a member of the American Legion and will always be remembered for his love of fishing, boating, and birdwatching.
Surviving are: a daughter, Dawn Register of Cottageville; a son, Douglas W. Spires (Sylvia) of Oregon; three brothers, Paul Spires, Jack Spires, and Randy Spires; a sister, Elinor Spires; and five grandchildren, Ethan, Ava, Hailey, Alex, and Addison.
