Henry Frederick Stehmeyer Jr.

Henry "Buddy" F. Stehmeyer, Jr., 89, of Washington, NC passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026. He was a son of the late Henry Stehmeyer, Sr. and Charlotte Koch Stehmeyer. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Steven Stehmeyer and brother-in-law, Ernest Bass

Buddy was a member of Mother of Mercy for 28 years. He volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul distributing food at the food bank. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Buddy's passion was playing tennis and was Junior Champion. He was an avid football fan and his favorite team was the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed sailboat racing on Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont. In retirement he loved playing golf. Buddy worked at Atlantic Research as a Chemist and later worked at IBM as a Chem Lab Manager where he retired.

Surviving him are his wife of 41 years, Louise Chamberlain Stehmeyer; children, Christina Sim (Trevor), Henry Stehmeyer, III (Erin) and Joseph Stehmeyer (Kari); step-daughter, Danielle Yeatman (Mike); a sister Lillian Bass; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

A mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Mother of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 112 W 9th Street, Washington, NC 27889 with Father Erik Reyes officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the mass.
