Henry John Wiedmeyer
June 2, 1997 - April 16, 2024
EL PASO, TX/SUN PRAIRIE - Henry John Wiedmeyer, of El Paso and Sun Prairie, passed away in a traffic accident on April 16, 2024, in El Paso, TX.
He was born on June 2, 1997, in Appleton, WI, the beloved son of Chad and Julie (Marzion) Wiedmeyer. Henry embraced a zeal for life, nature, and authentic human connections. He had a fun, warrior-like energy wrapped around a kind and gentle soul. And while he thirsted for adventure, he was content with simple things. He dedicated himself to meaningful connections with family and friends, frequently shared appreciation for those relationships, and gave hugs generously. He had the unique ability to connect with anyone and any animal. His selflessness and authenticity made us want to be better and we are grateful to have journeyed with him for 26 years.
He is survived by his beloved dog, Darwin; his parents; brother, Jake (Tessa) Wiedmeyer; nephew, Theo; bonus brother, Noa Chun-Moy; grandparents, John and Liz Marzion, and Bill and Sue Wiedmeyer; along with an abundance of family and friends, all of which he had a very special relationship with. He especially loved being an uncle to Theo and looked forward to his niece arriving in June. He was proceeded in death by his grandma, Marilee Marzion; and cousins: Jack and Megan.
He traveled to the Galapagos Islands, cherished his semester at Conserve School, graduated from Sun Prairie High and UW Stevens Point with a bachelor's degree in Forestry. He toured all 50 states with his family, completed the Madison marathon, marched for climate change in New York City, conquered many mountains and blazed many trails, and recently explored Columbia with close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, 11:00 a.m., at St. Albert Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie, WI, with Fr. Ray Dischler presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing a memorial fund in Henry's name.
