Herbert "Bert" Hatton Adkins, Jr., 75, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Hospice

Home at High Point.

Born on May 16, 1950, in Richmond, Virginia, Bert was the son of the late Herbert Hatton

Adkins and Martha Winston Adkins. He was a graduate of Pfeiffer University, where he played

on the men's soccer team.

Bert retired as Vice President of Sales at Carolina Container after 42 years of dedicated service.

A devoted community member, Bert was deeply involved with the YMCA of High Point, serving

on numerous boards and committees over the years. One of his lifelong passions was Camp

Cheerio, where he began as a camper in 1960 during its inaugural season and remained a

committed supporter throughout his life.

He was a faithful member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in High Point and a proud supporter of

High Point University Panther Club.

Bert is survived by his loving wife, Sara Janaske Adkins, of the home; three daughters,

Elizabeth Flowers and husband Michael, Mollie Cooke and husband Cameron, and Rebecca

Adkins, all of Charlotte; and six cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother,

Tommy Adkins and wife Jeffri of Charlottesville, Virginia, and two sisters, Betsy Smith and

husband Jeff, and Martha Gardner Barrier and husband Randy, all of High Point.

Bert will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to his family, friends, profession, and

community. He was a loyal and generous friend who cared deeply for those around him, always

quick to offer support, share a laugh, or simply be present. Whether gathering with loved ones or

enjoying a Bud Light in good company, Bert brought a lasting sense of connection to every

moment.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Bert Adkins will be held 2:00 p.m. on Saturday,

August 16, 2025 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in High Point. The family will greet friends in

the Parish Hall following the service.

Memorials may be made to YMCA Camp Cheerio, PO Box, 6258, High Point, NC 27262.

Online condolences may be shared on his memorial page at www.cumbyfuneral.com.
