Herbert Leo Burkeybile

Herbert "Herbie" Leo Burkeybile, 83, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. He was born December 14, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Cora (Weiser) and Gilbert Burkeybile. He married Pamela "Penny" Proud on February 1, 1975 in Chicago, IL. He spent many of his working years in Chicago, where he drove a Garbage truck and after 33 years he retired from Waste Management and moved back to St. Joseph. He loved being outdoors, especially working in his yard and traveling. He was preceded in death by parents, Gilbert Burkeybile and Cora Maddox, siblings, Robert Burkeybile, Jr., Barbara Green and Sonny Maddox, and granddaughter, Rachel. Survivors include wife, Pamela "Penny" Burkeybile of the home, daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Schmidt of Crystal Lake, IL, sons, Herbie (Isabell) Whidden of Buffalo Grove, IL and Tommie Whidden of Texas, sister-in-law, Barbara (Larry) Barns of Tennessee, grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Corina, Hannah, Jenny and Sarah, niece, Mandy Burkeybile of St. Joseph, several great-grandchildren and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Mr. Burkeybile has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
