Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shadel's Colonial Chapel - Lebanon on Dec. 31, 2025.
Herbert Ray Decker, son of Arthur Otto and Delphia May (Caudle) Decker, was born March 16, 1945, in Pulaski County, Missouri and departed this life December 29, 2025, in
Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty years.
Herb made a profession of faith in Christ and at the time of his passing had been a longtime member of Church of the Nazarene. He loved his church family and treasured their many prayers over the years.
On December 14, 1979, Herb was united in marriage with Shirley Mae Ginnings. Together they shared forty-six years of love and laughter, triumphs and tears side by side.
Herb worked hard to provide for his family. He was employed with Detroit Tool Metal Products for forty-three years, until his retirement as a supervisor. He earned much deserved respect from his co-workers and employers for his dedication and attention to detail.
Herb enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and gigging, where he was often the designated boat driver. He also enjoyed reloading ammunition. He and Shirley thoroughly enjoyed their time together, often filled with auctions and antiquing. He was a collector of clocks and scoping out new territory to add to his collection was always welcomed.
Herb was meticulous about many things, most notably his lawncare. He enjoyed mowing. It was somewhat therapeutic for him. In fact, he and his son, Anthony, owned and operated "Cutting Edge Lawn and Landscaping" for several years. However, of all the things he enjoyed, time spent, laughter shared and memories made with his family, is what he treasured most.
Herb is survived by his wife Shirley; children, Cheri Titus, Anthony Decker and his wife Holly, Herbert Decker Jr., Donna, Barbara Decker, Bradley Caudle and Christopher Decker and their families; three brothers, Harold Decker and his wife Patricia, Arthur "Art" Decker and Curtis Decker and his wife Phyllis; grandchildren, Bailey DeWitt, Taylor Bowman and her husband Steven, Allie Decker-Stallings, Hannah Decker, Blake Decker and Luke Decker; several brothers and sisters-in-law; other relatives and countless friends.
Those preceding Herb in death include his parents; three brothers, Derrald Decker, George Teubner and James Teubner; five sisters, Bernice, Grace, Donna, Lois and Ada.
There were so many things about this life that Herb loved. He embraced every moment. He loved his family deeply and unconditionally and they knew it. Our hearts are broken now, but what a wonderful reunion we have to look forward to one day.
