Herbert Frederickson Obituary

Herbert Frederickson

December 30, 2024

Herbert Dale Frederickson, 78, of Piney Flats, Tennessee ascended to his heavenly home into the arms of Jesus on December 30, 2024. Herb was born in Vernal, Utah on December 8, 1946 to the late Joseph & Rebecca May Frederickson and moved to Kokomo, Indiana as a young child.

Herb graduated from Kokomo High school in Kokomo, Indiana, in 1965 where he was a member of the track team and band. After high school, he proudly served his country in the Army and was deployed to Vietnam with the Big Red One Infantry division whose motto is No Mission Too Difficult. No Sacrifice Too Great. Duty First, which was a maxim that he continued to embody throughout his life.

After returning home from the war, he married his high school sweetheart Christine and started a family. His job in retail management took them to many places including Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia and finally settling back home in Tennessee. After many years in retail management, Herb retired and spent his time volunteering, helping others, expanding his antique collection and being the best grandpa anyone could ask for and always wearing that signature smile.

Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 57 years, Christine; three children and their spouses: Jason (Lorrie) Frederickson of Clearwater, FL, Andrew (Dora) Frederickson of Pembroke Pines, FL and Amanda (Mike) Holden of Knoxville, TN. Three grandchildren, whom he adored, Kash Frederickson, Jette Frederickson, and Wyatt Holden.

He is also survived by brothers Don, Joe, and Bill Frederickson, all of Kokomo, Indiana, and sister Donna Mosier of Independence, Missouri; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to Washington or Sullivan County Animal shelter. Herb adopted many pets over the years and would appreciate anything donated.

The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm in the West Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home located at 800 E. Watauga Ave. Johnson City, TN.
