Allred Funeral HomeHerbert John Gust, age 58, of Stevensville, Michigan, passed away on March 28, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1967, in Watertown, Wisconsin, to Minnie (Mueller) and Helmut Gust, who preceded him in death.
Herbert lived a life marked by love, faith, and adventure. He was a devoted husband to Vanessa Lynn Gust, and together they shared a marriage that began on December 18, 1988, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Their union was blessed with two children, Adrienne (David) Greene and Peter (Cynthia) Gust, and he took great joy in being a grandfather to Abigail and Joanna. He is also survived by his four sisters, Ursula (Doug) Falle, Anne (Doug) FitzGerald, Ruth (Jim) Daily, and Christel (Aaron) West, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him with affection.
Herbert worked for Ausra selling Case tractors, where he was known for his dependable nature and his ability to connect with others. He approached his work with honesty and dedication, and those who knew him appreciated his steady presence and kind spirit. His life reflected the values he carried with him each day, and he was respected for the way he treated others with warmth and sincerity.
A faithful Christian, Herbert was a member of the Coloma Seventh-day Adventist Church. His faith was an important part of his life and guided the way he cared for his family and those around him. He found joy in simple and meaningful pleasures, including golfing, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He especially cherished being with his family and watching sunsets, often at Lake Michigan, where he could pause and appreciate the beauty of creation.
Herbert was also a devoted fan of Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. Whether following a game or enjoying time with loved ones, he embraced life with enthusiasm and a grateful heart. He will be remembered as a loving, faith-filled, and adventurous man whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.
Those who knew Herbert will remember his gentle nature, his devotion to family, and the steady faith that shaped his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters, extended family, and all who were blessed to know him.
