Herbert Paul Halpern

HALPERN, HERBERT PAUL. August 18, 1937-June 28, 2024. The beloved husband of Eileen Chanenson Halpern; the beloved father of Jonathan Halpern and Mimi (Halpern) Maduff; the beloved grandfather of Ian Maduff; the beloved father-in-law of Aaron Maduff; the beloved son of Dorothy and Sam Halpern; and the beloved brother of Gerald (Laurie) Halpern, Ann (Greg) Nichols, and Andy (Cheryl) Halpern passed away on June 28, 2024 at the age of 86 after a long illness. A graduate of Northwestern University (BA) and Harvard University (Ph.D), Dr. Halpern was a longtime professor and the former Chairman of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Cincinnati. He also was a daily attendee of the Golf Manor Synagogue and Shar'rei Torah and a student at the Cincinnati Kollel. A humble and modest scholar, he was devoted to his family, his friends, his students, his colleagues, and his faith. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations to Golf Manor Synagogue; Shar'rei Torah; the Jewish National Fund; Jewish Education for Every Person (JEEP); and Leukemia And Lymphoma Society would be greatly appreciated. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Weil Kahn Funeral Home (8350 Cornell Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249).
